Hatfield-McCoy Heritage Weekend
The 5th Anniversary of the Signing of the Truce!

Where:  Pikeville, Kentucky & Matewan, WV

CALLING ALL SOFTBALL PLAYERS! WE NEED YOU TO PARTICIPATE ON SATURDAY, JUNE 14 AT 2:00 - WILL THE McCOY'S OUTPLAY THE HATFIELDS? WILL THE HATFIELD'S BE VICTORIOUS? IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PLAYING SEND AN EMAIL TO: RON McCOY AT:  mccoy1963@aol.com 

Coca-Cola of Pike County has generously agreed to sponsor the Softball Game and will be providing t-shirts to all the players!

Friday, June 13 12:00 Fiscal Court Room, Pike County Court House, Pikeville, KY

Jim Prichard, noted Kentucky and Civil War Historian, will speak on the subject of the Hatfield & McCoy Feud in the Fiscal Court Room/ Admission is free.  This event is sponsored by Pikeville - Pike County Tourism, Big Sandy Heritage Museum, Pike County Heritage Commission and the Pike County Fiscal Court.

6:30 P.M. Landmark Inn, Pikeville, KY - Ticketed Event Joint Family Dinner.  Hatfield-McCoy Reunion Dinner.  Tickets are $20.00 & include the buffet, coffee or soda & water, tax & gratuity.

Tickets ordered before June 1, 2008 will be mailed. Tickets ordered after June 1 will be available for pickup at the Landmark Inn the night of the dinner.

Friday, June 13 6:30 P.M. Landmark Inn, Pikeville, KY - No Charge as part of the Dinner Libby Preston will have a genealogy table at the dinner event. So please bring your pictures, family information, etc. and find out more about the families.  You can also email your line directly to Libby at Libby@libby-genealogy.com so she can be sure to have added your line before you get there!

Saturday, June 14 8:30 A.M. City Hall, Matewan, WV An ATV Poker Run will begin at Matewan City Hall with riders collecting cards at each stop. Riders will be collecting cards at Outback ATVs in Matewan, Starter’s Restaurant in Williamson & then return to Matewan to collect cards at Kelly’s Liquors, Wingo’s Diner & the Matewan Depot Restaurant.  The rider with the winning “hand” will win the run. First place will be $300 cash, second place $200 & third place $100

Pikeville City Park, Pikeville, KY - No Charge A special ceremony of the presentation of signed shotguns will take place. The shotguns will be signed by Reo Hatfield, Bo McCoy & Ron McCoy.  Anticipated recipients include the Governor of West Virginia, the Governor of Kentucky and President George Bush.  The Governor of West Virginia will be present to accept his shotgun.

Remember this is the 5th Anniversary of the Signing of the Truce and will be a special event well worth attending!

Saturday, June 14 Following the High Noon Ceremony Pikeville College Softball Field, Pikeville, KY - No Charge
Picnic Lunch - Tents will be set up in the ball field parking lot. They have horseshoe pits and we hope to have some other fun competitive activities as well. 
 
Saturday, June 14 1:00 P.M. Matewan, WV Kids Run & ATV Parade - Registration will be held at Wingo's Grill. The 1st 50 kids to register will get a free t-shirt and all kids who enter will get
a free ice cream after the parade at Wingo's Grill.  Please call Donald or Kathy McCoy at 304-426-4700 for more
information.

Softball Showdown!  Anyone interested in playing (for either team) please contact Ron McCoy at: mccoy1963@aol.com A roster of players will be posted as players are known! 

The team members will sign the balls after the game and give two away as "door prizes" following the game: One to a Hatfield winner, One to a McCoy winner. W
atchers from either side are welcome!  So come one and all & have some fun.......
 
Saturday, June 14 2:00 P.M. Matewan City Hall, Matewan, WV - Front Steps Hillbilly "Shotgun" Wedding - Old time hillbilly shotgun wedding with all the trimmings. A reception on the front steps of City Hall follows.
 
Saturday, June 14 4:00 P.M. Bridge over the Tug River - Kentucky AND West Virginia A Tug-A-War across the Tug River. 10 McCoy's on the Kentucky side of the bridge & 10 Hatfield's on the West Virginia side of the bridge.
