Libby PrestonLibby Preston 1951-2016

age 64 of Delray Beach, Fla. passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 of complications from a fall. She was born Clara Elizabeth Preston on June 14, 1951 in Detroit, Mich. to parents Paul B. Preston and Joyce (Preston) Preston.

The oldest of identical twins, Libby had a long and distinguished banking career spanning over 47 years. Seventeen of those years were spent as a mortgage processor, interviewer, and closer for Michigan National Bank in Lansing, Mich.

Moving to Canton, Ohio in 1985, Libby continued her career as a mortgage servicing officer with Security Savings Mortgage Corp, (later known as The Dollar Loan Center) where she rose to the positions of President and Chief Operations Officer. She also held the position of Senior Vice President of Dollar Bank of Pittsburgh, Pa., the parent company of The Dollar Loan Center. Libby retired Jan. 30, 2015.

An expert genealogist, Libby, along with five other genealogists were approached by the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution) to write a book on the descendants of her 5th Great Grandfather, Moses Preston. Affectionately known in her household as “The Book Of Moses”, the tome spans 5 volumes, encompassing over 2,500 pages.

As a McCoy descendant, Libby was a longtime supporter of the Hatfield-McCoy reunions. For the 2008 Reunion, she put together a comprehensive genealogy of the modern era Hatfield and McCoy families. Libby and her genealogy website have been an incredible source of support and information of the family tree. At the time of her death, Libby was tracking 138,000 descendants. Genealogy was her passion.

Libby is survived by her father, Paul Preston of Wabash Ind., her identical twin sister, Norma (Susie) Preston of Delray Beach, Fla., her brother, Bob Preston and sister-in-law, Sue (Jacob) Preston of Katy, Texas; her sister, Anita Jo Preston of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; her nephew, Bob Preston; niece-in-law, Keli (Rappuhn) Preston; great niece, Zoey, and great nephew, Micah Preston, also of Katy, Texas; her niece-in-law, Carissa (Rees) Preston; great nephew, Shane and great-niece, Sarah of Oakland Park, Fla. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce (Preston) Preston, nephew, Jeff Preston, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends she considered as family.

Services will be held on Saturday May 14, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading, Mich. Calling hours will be Friday, May 13, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Frontier Cemetery, Frontier, Mich.
