PRESTON FAMILY OF
INGESTRE, STAFFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND
It is generally accepted that
Phillip Preston was the son of George Preston who
was born in England in 1683 and died May 2, 1720. George
married Anna Unknown and according to the Ingestre Parish Registers,
four of George's children were baptized at the church.

The entries were in Latin and the
information was furnished by Dr. Anne Andrews from the Ingestre
Church Records, Staffordshire, England. Additional information
from the Ingestre Parish Records can be found below.
This lady generously furnished the
information and a picture of George Preston's tombstone. This
George is related to our line but at this point his exact
relationship has not been established since there are several George
Prestons in our line.
For those of you who may be
interested, Dr. Andrews indicated that the repairs on the Ingestre
Church's roof has been started. It had been damaged by Death
Watch Beetle. Anyone wishing to donate to the funds being
collected for it's repair can contact me and I will provide you with
information on where to contribute. They estimate the repairs
will cost about one half a million pounds. |
